P-FLAG scholarships to be awarded at June 13 event

by Dorothy Byers

Cincinnati-P-FLAG Cincinnati has been busy this year with monthly support meetings, updating the library of GLBT materials and DVDs, providing speakers in schools and companies, supporting GLBT language in the city's Human Rights Ordinance, sending students to the NGLTF Power Summit in Milwaukee, participating in Lobby Day with Equality Ohio, hosting the film Inlaws and Outlaws, and putting on the annual Scholarship Banquet fundraiser.

The group will be celebrating Pride in two ways this year, first by marching in the Pride parade and having a booth during Pride weekend June 10-11, and second by awarding scholarships to deserving GLBT and straight ally students at the monthly meeting

on Tuesday, June 13 at 7 pm.

Over the years P-FLAG Cincinnati has given more than $75,000 in scholarships. This event marks the culmination of our fundraising efforts and is our way of nurturing advocates in the GLBT arena.

The meeting takes place at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church, 103 William Howard Taft Rd. It starts with socializing from 7:00 'til 7:30 pm, then general meeting and a short program from 7:30 'til 8:15 pm and finally small group discussions from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.
